Among the helminths that cause these diseases, it highlights the Strongyloides spp. and Ancylostoma spp. . The beaches are an excellent means of delivery of several species of parasites. The present study aimed to evaluate the contamination of sandy beaches of th e city of João Pessoa by larvae of helminths. For this purpose, 126 samples were collected in Tambaú and Cabo Branco beaches, from February to August 2015. In each region we selected three collection points, and each point were collected three samples of s and 150g, one of surface and the other at 10 cm and 20 cm depth. Each sample was collected in duplicate. Methods for identification of larvae were Hoffmann and Rugai and data were analyzed using percentage and average of data collected using the Office Exc el® 2013 (Microsoft) under simple descriptive statistics. It turned out that 44.4% (56) the rates were positive for Strongyloides spp. and / or Ancylostoma spp .. When sorting up the beaches due to its location, it was observed that the beach of Cabo Branc o showed a higher rate of contamination when compared to the beach Tambaú. Among the collection points, it was found that the point 3, referring to the venue of bathers, had the highest number of positive samples compared to points 1 and 2. The variable de pth, 91.1% (26) positive samples were at 10 and 20 cm. Understanding the importance of health education and the intrinsic relationship between this action and the academy, it was prepared a booklet titled \"Parasistas: a danger at your leisure,\" which was g iven to the athletes and swimmers who frequent the beaches studied. It is concluded that swimmers use the environment that had the highest infection rate. However, athletes while performing activities during training, can contact with the sand deeper and b eing infected by parasites. Therefore, prevention and control measures should be taken by the aforementioned groups","abstract_html":"The geohelmintíases are diseases caused by helminths which have the ability to remain and develop in the soil.
