Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis research proposes an analysis of the creative process behind the play [sem] Drama, developed within the context of social isolation and the complete halt of in-person cultural productions, which connected the artistic practice to the urgency imposed by the health crisis (COVID-19) during the years 2020 and 2021. This period was also marked by the implementation of policies that discouraged the arts and artists: the revocation of incentive laws, the dismantling of the Ministry of Culture, and the emergence of anti-democratic acts in Brazil. The creative process aimed to engage the agents of the scene in an investigation that sought alternatives for action/creation within the limitations imposed by the crisis. The play [sem] Drama takes the short story Casa Tomada (House Taken Over), by writer Julio Cortázar, as a creative device and explores the representation of disappearances, as does this research. To this end, we draw on the concept of trace, developed by Jeanne Marie Gagnebin, in order to approach Cortázar's story as a micro-narrative — that is, a document that contains within it traces of a historical time. This approach makes it possible to identify elements that link the story to the context in which the play was created. The objective of this research is to analyze the play [sem] Drama in light of the theoretical assumptions of action employed in the process, using metadrama as a poetic foundation, in order to characterize an idea of drama as a theatrical work based on the destabilization and displacement of its structuring elements. Keywords: [sem], drama, [sem] drama, play, representation, metadrama, disappearances, action, crisis, trace, destabilization.
