Ativismo digital antirracismo e a mediação implícita da informação no Twitter: análise da hashtag #VidasNegrasImportam
Abstract
dc:description.abstractDigital anti-racism activism represents the struggle against racism in digital spaces and one of its strategies is the use of hashtags on social media. The hashtag # VidasNegrasImportam (#BlackLivesMatter, in English) emerged as a repercussion of the Black Lives Matter movement that reverberated in Brazil in the face of the need to specify the voices of black resistance in the context of a country founded on the myth of racial democracy. In the field of Library and Information Science, the hashtag #VidasNegrasImportam is configured as a device for the implicit mediation of information, therefore, it can act to support the construction and updating of information representation instruments, which historically share a hegemonic perspective. Therefore, the general objective of this research was to investigate the use of the implicit information mediation device #VidasNegrasImportam to verify its mobilizing potential in digital anti-racism activism. To achieve this objective, the specific objectives were to characterize the profile of the users who used the implicit mediation device (#VidasNegrasImportam); identify the types of texts generated from the device; verify if there were proposals for mobilizing actions of the anti-racism movement from the device, as well as to survey and analyze the content of the tweets that were replicated (retweeted) to identify recurring and relevant terms for possible consideration in the representation of information. The research was descriptive, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. Data collection on Twitter was carried out on November 20, 2021 (National Black Consciousness Day; Dia Nacional da Consciência Negra, in Portuguese), date that marks, in 2021, 50 years of the first evocative act to November 20 (1971) and the 10 years of the institution of the National Day of Zumbi and Black Consciousness. The data were extracted from the Netlytic tool. After establishing the criteria for delimiting the sample, a corpus of 149 analyzed tweets resulted, with the use of content analysis and discourse analysis techniques. To carry out the research, it was necessary to reflect, in the light of the literature, with a focus on the themes of ethnic-racial relations and information mediation. As a result, it was observed that the engagement with the hashtag was low and there were few effective mobilizing actions of the anti-racism movement proposed from the use of the hashtag #VidasNegrasImportam. However, we found that the hashtag can enhance actions of implicit information mediation by helping to choose terms that contribute to taxonomic reparations in the documentary languages of Library and Information Science. Finally, digital anti-racism activism can support the development of explicit information mediation actions that, by occurring in direct interaction with social subjects, have greater power to contribute to the development of social protagonism. Thus, we conclude that the articulation between implicit and explicit information mediation activities, committed to the anti-racism struggle, collaborate for the development of social protagonism among information professionals who must seek new sources of knowledge for their performance, including in social movements and their forms of mobilization on the web, as well as among information users.
