A expressão da metropolização do espaço a partir de Salvador.

Urban phenomena of increasing complexity are a constant in studies that address spatial, social, and economic transformations in the world at a variety of scales. Phenomena of this nature have demanded an urgent and indispensable rearrangement of definitions, nomenclatures and methods of analysis in order to better distinguish and assimilate the heterogeneous urban moment that has been developing with greater vigor since the end of the 20th century. This is the case of the transitions produced by the new stage of urbanization, the so-called metropolization of space, which imposes itself like an impetuous avalanche, producing structures and strategies of an urban-metropolitan and capitalist essence that goes beyond geographical limits, regardless of physical and population dimensions. In view of this, the research developed an analysis focused on identifying the current scope of the metropolis of Salvador, based on the phenomenon of the metropolization of space, based on the spatial distribution of (fixed) enterprises, mainly large ones, and their respective activities that make up the tertiary sector and which, combined with the daily flows of people, goods and information, can spread and transform increasingly distant spaces. Considering the spatial section that includes the municipalities of Salvador, Lauro de Freitas, Simões Filho and Camaçari, and based on the reading of the relevant bibliography, together with the consultation of the database and information from research institutions and public bodies, and the geographical analysis through the production of thematic maps, it was possible to conclude that the urban transitions affect the respective municipalities with different intensities, with Lauro de Freitas being the one that has been most affected by these movements of spatial reconfiguration through the expansion of large tertiary sector enterprises.This finding confirms the perception of the authors used as theoretical reference for this work, who state that this is a new urban fact that acts in different ways, considering the peculiarities of each place, causing it to act in different dimensions, at different speeds, at different levels and rhythms. Within the limits imposed and also faced, we are fully aware that this is only the beginning of the in-depth investigative work that the subject of the metropolitanization of space in the territory of Bahia requires, and it is ideal to recommend that further academic research be carried out on a continuous basis, in order to allow the identification of new pieces of this contemporary urban puzzle.
