Aprenda Latim direito: reflexões sobre a prática docente de um professor em formação e desenvolvimento de uma proposta metodológica para cursos de latim jurídico

The field of classical studies in Brazil has been experiencing notable growth in recent decades, as evidenced by prolific bibliographic production across various areas. Our research is situated within this context and unfolds in two main strands: firstly, as undergraduate research fellows and teaching assistants, we observed the development of a didactic material for Latin instruction called 'Latinitas,' created by Professor José Amarante. Secondly, as trainee professors at the Research and Extension Center in Languages at UFBA (NUPEL), we conceived and implemented a didactic material tailored for teaching Latin to a legal audience. In the process, we realized that our research also extended to the reflection on teacher education. We observed that autobiographical reflections became relevant for a deeper analysis of the processes involving teaching and learning concepts, methodologies employed in the everyday classroom, and, consequently, in the production of the material itself. Thus, this thesis aims to: contemplate autobiographical issues, viewed from a perspective analyzing the influence of educational experiences on the individual, whether conscious or unconscious of this process; reflect on the role of extension as an important support line for teacher education, especially for classical studies programs, which often lack spaces for discussing teaching practices; and, finally, present as a final product a methodological proposal for teaching legal Latin, critically analyzing the conception processes of this material.
