High-density surface electromyography (HDEMG) allows the identification of potential propagators of a muscle with fibers parallel to the skin surface and was used in the present study to identify potential propagators in the internal oblique muscle, deep to the external oblique, with Matrix of 64 electrodes. A method for processing the EMG signals was proposed to estimate the direction of the action potentials of the motor units of the internal oblique muscle. The results showed that it was possible to identify propagating action potentials in the direction of the fibers in agreement with the architecture of the internal oblique muscle and to estimate the orientation of these fibers, in approximately 53 °.
