O desenho botânico como forma de expressão artística na obra de Margaret Mee

This paper presents botanical illustration as an artistic expression from humanistic perspectives. The botanical illustration is exemplified in such artists like Leonardo da Vinci and the romantic naturalists and poets like Humboldt and Goethe. From this view, the work of Margaret Mee is a case study about illustrations of vegetable species as a knowledge's way to botany which is joined to a sensible expression of the artist. Therefore, botanical illustration is now suggested as an artistic expression applied to botanical taxonomy and to the defense of earth environment, the mankind's patrimony.
