The protection of objects, especially organic, relies above all, on the environment in which they are stored and displayed. Optimal environments for preservation can be achieved by the maintenance of specific levels of temperature, relative humidity, ando also by the control of light and atmospheric pollutants. In tropical humid climate this kind of environmental control often requires mechanical equipments and air-conditioning, which envolves high instalation and running costs. This work brings together paper conservation and architecture, and tries to relate environmental control with a re-examination of the concepts of bioclimatic building design.
