Aspectos sazonais de ocorrência, tamanho e dieta de duas espécies de Engraulidae (Teleostei clupeiformes) na Baía de Sepetiba, Rio de Janeiro
Abstract
dc:description.abstractAnchoa januaria (Steindachner, 1879) and Cetengraulis edentulus (Cuvier, 1828) were the most abundant species of Engraulidae in Sepetiba's Bay, Rio de Janeiro, during the research' s period from July 1983 to July 1985. The aspects of ocurrence, seasonal size structure and growth rate determination, analysis of diet and of morphologic structures involved with feeding are examined for both species. The definition of the diurnal feeding activity cycle of A. januaria is presented. The importance of Sepetiba 's Bay as a natural nursery for these fish, is also discussed.
