Estudo morfológico e aspectos ecológicos da ciliatofauna do plâncton litorâneo da Lagoa de Piratininga, Niterói, Estado do Rio de Janeiro

Located in na area of real estate speculation. the lagoon sufferswith domestic sewage dispasa! and earth embankments at its borders which speed up the siltfilling process. Refined working procedures like the Protargol Technique, the Chatton &Lwoof Thechnique, the Silver Dry Technique and Scanning Electron Microscopy, permittedgood observation. identification and description of the members of the ciliate fauna peculiar of the Typha dominguensis association of the lagoon. The ciliate fauna is Euplotes cristatus. Euplores woodruffi, Diophrys sp., Aspidisca sp., Urosryla sp., Gasrrostyla steinii. Srromhidium viride, Lacrymaria sp., Emchelys sp., Loxophyllum sp., Paramecium aurelia e Vorticella sp. The good results with the techniques permitted the observation of finermorphological details of several species: Euplotes cristatus, Euplores woodruffi, Urostyla sp., Gastrosryla steinii. Siromhidium viride. Paramecium aurelia and the identification of anew species of Urostyla. Once the species were identified. data about their temporalfluctuation and equilibrium conditions in the environment could be gathered and trophicrelations of them established.
