The íncidence and the effects of these transformations, which dismantle some of the traditional urban institutions, are now under critical analysis by many thinkers. Among them, Paul Virilio, Manuel Castells and François Ascher are the most renowned. Their views often agree, often disagree and often complement each other - and this results in an important contribution to the understanding of the contemporary city and urbanism.
