A hydroelastic reduced model of a deep water tension leg platform is designed and constructed according to the similitude theory. The theoretical-numerical model adjustements are presented as well as the physical modelling and constructive techniques. The obtained results from free vibration tests and the action of regular waves on the model are also shown. Among the available experimental results, those related to the damping ratio, inertia and drag coefficients should be highlited. It should be noted for the model under wave actions, the comparison between experimental and numerical results matches quite well. The good correlation between theoretical-numerical and experimental results validates the experimental modeling and constructive techniques and the experimental analyses. Further, these favorable results allows the extrapolation of data from model to prototype. Finally, it should be emphasized that the data obtained herein, essentially of experimental nature, are useful for a rational design of such offshore structure.
