Considerações sobre ensaios triaxiais em areias
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis work iniciates with presentation of a state of the art on testing techniques employed in drained triaxial tests on sands. A study of a new method of specimen preparation using pluviation, where the unit weight of the sample can be previously specified, is also presented. ln addition, a simplified saturation technique in which the specimens were submitted, outside the triaxial cell, to a low gradient seepage water, followed by an application of backpressure, is also tested with success. The influence of the free-ends condition on the stressstrain- strength relationship is subsequently investigated through the use of lubricated rubber membranes placed on top and bottom of the specimen. Finally, a brief analysis of the results is made in the light of both the traditional and the critical state approaches.
