Abstract

Based upon the Yield-Line Theory (Johansen, 1932) a non-oonventional finite element is formulated for the analysis of slabs whose oonstitutive law is defined through a moment-rotation curve at the section transversal to the yield-line. Thus only with the displacement perpendicular to the slab medium surface at each one of the four nodal points, the element shows to be excellent to represent and find the configuration and the factor of collapse beginning from a criterious and rational discretization. It can be used in the limit analysis by linear programming or in the elastic-plastic analysis, considering forces increasing proportionally (Static Collapse) or independently from each other (Shakedown Analysis).
