Análise comparativa dos critérios do código ASME, seção VIII Divisão l e Divisão 2, para tensões de cascas delgadas e de revolução, usando o Método dos Elementos Finitos
Abstract
dc:description.abstractIn view of the wide industrial use of Pressure Vessels, mainly in the petrochemical processes, their in strutural design optimization is becoming important. The aim of this work is the interpretation of the stresses calculated by the Finite Element Method, and to compare them with those of ASME Code-Pressure Vessel, Section VIII Division 2. This Division deals with detailed stress analysis in function of the load and its location, providing different allowable stresses. This is an improvement over Division I, that user only the membrane stress and the same allowable stress for any part of the structure. Examples shown obtain the thickness of the structures using both Div. 1 e Div. 2, thus comparing their values, through the different allowable stresses. Two Computer programs are used, in order to obtain the resulting stresses, the maximum difference between the principal stresses, which are compared to those established by the Code.
