Contribuição ao estudo da drenagem interna de taludes em regiões tropicais

This dissertation comprises an extensive literature review and a study of groundwater flow in some typical cases of slopes of residual and saprolitic soils in tropical regions, using a finite element program to obtain flow nets. The influence of internal drainage systems on the drawdown of the groundwater level and the reduction of the influence of seepage flow and its change to a more favorable configuration to the stability was studied. It was found that flow nets are an excellent tool for the design of internal drainage systems.
