The structure is modeled using degenerated tri-dimensional quadratic finite elements in conjuntion with line-spring elements for crack simulation. The analysis is performed considering linear elasticity resulting in the avaluation of the stress intensity factor KI. For the non linear elasto-plastic case, the release rate potential energy in the crack, known as J-integral is evaluated. ln both cases, the crack opening displacements (C.O.D.) are calculated. The hipothesis and formulations are presented, as well as the general aspects of the computational implementation. Some exemples are discussed and results compared with other solutions.
