The present paper describes a monophyletic assemblage including Trichomycterus brasiliensis Lütken, T mimonha Costa, T mirissumba Costa, T vermiculatus (Eigenmann), T candidus (Ribeiro) n. comb. and five new species, herein denominated as Trichomycterus brasiliensis species-group.
