Efeito do tempo de carregamento e a questão dos recalques de estacas em provas de carga

This thesis deals with foundation pile performance when subjected to vertical load tests. The most usual types of piles are investigated. Load tests are analysed with the purpose of verifying the influence of the loading rate on settlements and on failure loads. It is observed that a more rapid loading - or less rigorous stabilization criterion - leads to smaller settlements and greater load capacity. Load tests are backanalysed to obtain soil deformability moduli, to be employed in the calculation of settlements. A simple method for computation of settlements is proposed, making use of dynamic penetration test (SPT) results. Finally, some cases of group settlements are analysed, by comparing settlements calculated by an empirical method and actually observed.
