Revisão das espécies neotropicais de Scolopocryptopinae (Chilopoda: Scolopendromorpha: Scolopocryptopidae)
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe Neotropical Scolopocryptopinae are revised. The taxonomic characters used for the subfamily are evaluated, new ones are proposed, emended diagnoses are provided for all taxa. According to the new classification proposed, the subfamily comprises two genera, Dinocrytops and Scolopocryptops, and six species, D. miersii, S. ferrugineus, S. melanostoma, S. inversus, S. guacharensis and Scolopocryptops sp. nova 1. The species Scolopocryptops aurantiacus, S. viridis, S. quadrisulcatus and S. ferrugineus riveti are considered nomina dubia and Scolopocryptopinae incertae sedis. A specimen from São Paulo State, Brazil, is "designated" as the neotype for D. miersii. Scolopocryptops ferrugineus inversus and S. ferrugineus guacharensis are raised to species level. The following taxa are considered junior subjective synonyms: D. puruensis and D. miersii guaraniticus of D. miersii, and S. denticufatus and S. spinulifer of S. inversus. Geographical distribution is modified for D. miersii (Lesser Antilles, Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina); S. ferrugineus (Central America, Antilles, north and northeastern South America; S. melanostoma (Central America, some Antilles' islands, Venezuela and Brazil); S. inversus (Guyana, French Guyana and Brazil); S. guacharensis (Cueva Del Guacharo, Venezuela). An undescribed species of Scolopocryptops is recognized, from Parque Nacional Serra das Confusões, Brazil, the first species of the genus from the "caatinga" habitat.
