The first model analyzed transforms the optimization problem into a zero-one integer linear programming problem, which is solved by implicit enumeration algorithm and by dual decomposition algorithm. The other model seeks optimization of the network by heuristic search of optimal diameters, based on energy costs necessary to elevation of piezometric height of the network source nodes. In case of network supplied by reservoir with prefixed height, a dummy value is adopted for the energy cost, and this value is modified by the model at the end of each iteration to reach the fixed reservoir piezometric height. Models were tested in three networks with quite different characteristics, and good results were obtained by using the second model.","abstract_html":"Two cost optimization models of water distribution networks are studied and a evaluation of the obtained solutions and computational performance are done.
