At first, a review of the fundamental concepts of hydrodynamics is made and the simplifications needed to reduce the problem to a two-dimensional one are set up. The boundary value problem that governs the phenomenon is transformed into an integral equation by using a direct boundary element formulation. The numerical solution of this integral equation yields the wave potential values at the bodies surface and then the forces on it are easily evaluated. The application of the program to several cases shows a good agreement with other experimental and theoretical results.
