It also presents a new procedure, developed from Vanderbilt’s theory that permits the use of equivalent frame concept for the analysis of multistore buildings for both lateral and gravity loads. A computer program is presented to compute the internal forces in slabs, beams and columns of building and the displacements in each nodal point. This program uses the properties of the banded stiffness matrix. The technique used to assemble and store the stiffness matrix is a modified version of the partition method. Comparisons between the procedure proposed and traditional methods are made for some particular structures. The results are very close for both methods for each type of structure.","abstract_html":"The equivalent frame method for analysing reinforced concrete buildings which is described in the "ACI Building Code Requirements" (ACI-318-77) is suitable for analysing only the gravity loading.
