Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe thermal bending of the plates with thin thickness subjected to a stationary thermal field T = T (x,y,z) is analysed by the ordinary finite difference method. The analysis is restricted to the small deflections theory and interactions between the bending and the membrane forces effects are neglected. A study on the isotropic and orthotropic rectangular plates, rectangular plates on elastic foundations and circular plates is made, by means of different combinations as to the following boundary conditions: clamped, simply supported and free. The solutions were presented as to facilitate the manual use or automatic programming, since the difficulties on the application of the ordinary finite difference method reside on the boundary points or at it's vicinity. The process convergence is evaluated through some analytical solution examples available in the literature.
