Dimensionamento plástico de edifícios de andares múltiplos, em aço
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis work presents a review of the theory of plastic design of multistory steel frames and develops a computer program to implement the automatic design of column, girders and bracings. The plastic design utilizes the ductility, which is a inherent structural steel property, and the redistribution of internal forces in statically indeterminate structures that takes place when plastic hinges develop at regions of a high bending moment. In multistory frames, additional moments caused by the P-∆ effect must also be taken into account. The discussion of the plastic design theory and the computer program are divided into two parts: braced multistory frames and unbraced multistory frames. The structure, braced or unbraced, must be designed to satisfy the following criteria: 1) Strength; 2) Serviceability. The validity of the program is verified by a numerical example in which a four-story, three-bay frame is designed.
