Poríferos da Baía de Sepetiba (Rio de Janeiro-Brasil)

Presents the distribution of Porifera in the Baía de Sepetiba, based upon the material collected by himself from 1975 to 1979. Besides the identification of the families, genera and species, the author presents some data about the distribution of these species in Brazil, according to records of other authors, and some conclusions about the distribution of the species at the studied area. 175 samples were collected, wich included 14 families of the classe Demospongiae, belonging to 22 species, from which 8 refered to new occurence to Rio de Janeiro and among them, 3 to Brazil. So, the itentions of the author were to contribute for the knowledge of Brazilian fauna of Porifera as well as, to Marine Ecology works, so necessary in our days, in that nonsensical world we live.
