The soil studied was a sand containing 7% clay and 8% silt. Two 30 x 30 x 30 cm undisturbed samples were collected in the subway excavation, near Monroe Palace, in Rio de Janeiro. Sample locations were, 10,50 m and 12,00 m deep, and approximately 20 m apart. Tests under consolidated-undrained and consolidated-drained conditions were carried out. The consolidated-drained tests were performed under two stress-paths: 1) σ1 increasing, σ3 constant, 2) σ1 constant, σ3 decreasing. Computer programs were developed in order to elaborate tests results and to obtain the hyperbolic parameters automatically. These programs as well as others concernig the shear parameters are listed herein.
