It takes an audience on a journey to Spain, where a same sex couple, Fiona and Caroline have gone on holiday. There, the couple are forced to confront their own understanding of family as they journey into Caroline’s genealogy- the final movements of her International Brigadier Grandfather fighting in the Spanish Civil War. ‘Current Regimes’ hopes to engage with theatrical story telling whilst examining two contemporary issues: the linguistics of Exhumations and Gay Rights. The critical analysis examines the craft of playwriting with ‘Current Regimes’ as case study.
