Studies of vacuum ultraviolet absorption spectra of simple gases
Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>The spectra of ethylene and deuterated ethylene molecules have been photographed in the first order of a 21-foot vacuum ultraviolet spectrograph. The background continuum was provided by a xenon discharge lamp excited by a 2450 Mc/sec microwave diathermy unit. The exposure time varied from 30 minutes to four hours depending upon the slit width. Wavelength standards were provided by atomic emission and absorption lines of impurities present in the light source and also by carbon monoxide emission.</p>
