Local absorption enhancement of light in tailored disordered amorphous silicon thin-films

Abstract

Random nanotextured amorphous silicon thin films are investigated with regards to their light trapping capabilities and local absorption. Computational optimization of thin films leads to design guidelines by which several nanotextures are fabricated. The investigation of the fabricated nanotextures via short laser pulse excitation reveals localized modes that significantly increase the overall absorption.
