This thesis looks at the rise and fall of the Chicano Movement and how the Vietnam War played a part in that demise. First, the paper looks at the historic plight of Mexican-Americans, particularly in Texas. Next, the thesis documents the rise of the Chicano Movement and the movement's reasons for protesting the Vietnam War, followed by how the opposition to the Vietnam War caused a backlash against the Chicano movement—both by the Anglo majority and within the Mexican-American community.
