Over the next several weeks, the congregants present on that Wednesday night begin to display increasingly erratic behavior: doomsday stockpiling, sexual deviancy, strange obsessions. As each member struggles to keep their behavior a secret, cracks begin to form on the façade of both the church members and Hyde Park Baptist Church itself. Eventually, Pastor Tom must decide what action to take to rebuild his church, which is slowly falling to pieces.
