The influence of Christianity in Pope's Moral Essays.

Alexander Pope's Moral Essays include the Epistle to Cobham, the Epistle to a Lady, the Epistle to Bathurst and the Epistle to Burlington. Simply put, this thesis focuses on Christianity as it appears in these poems. Christ does, of course, show Himself in different ways through the four poems. In the Epistle to Bathurst and the Epistle to Burlington, for example, Christian thinking is apparent through the presence or absence of the Christian virtues. In the Epistle to Cobham and the Epistle to a Lady, Christianity is apparent by the influence on Pope of specific Scripture.
