The established hypothesis in this current analysis is that the Puerto Rican writer's most representative fiction deconstructs and confronts the fundamental powers and the central discourses that have dominated the historical and cultural panorama of Puerto Rico during a great part of the twentieth century and the initial years of the twenty-first. Also, as a secondary effect of the literary dismantling of those powers and central discourses, Rosario Ferré proposes a radical repositioning of the rights of the Puerto Rican woman and by extension, the Latin American woman.
