To do this, data were gathered on both topics and comparisons were made. In order to establish correlations between the two disorders, a statistical comparison was made between the results of Meeting Street School Screening Test, Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities, Say What I Say, and Northwestern Syntax Screening Test. Method: Twenty second-grade children were chosen from the Waco Independent School District. The children were selected because they had been given the MSSST during their first year in the public school system. In order to test the students' expressive language skills, the SWIS and NSST were administered. The ITPA was employed to determine the students' learning deficits. The MSSST was also used for this purpose. The raw scores of the four tests were compiled and compared statistically in order to determine if a correlation existed between any of the tests. A series of t tests was then applied to the data to check for significance of the correlations. Findings of the Investigation: Significant correlations were found between SWIS and ITPA and between ITPA and MSSST. No significant correlations were found between SWIS and MSSST, NSST and ITPA, NSST and MSSST, and NSST and SWIS. This finding indicates that (1) ITPA and MSSST appear to measure some of the same entities, (2) ITPA and SWIS appear to measure some of the same entities, (3) NSST is independent of the other three tests appears to measure different entities, and (4) SWIS and MSSST do not appear to measure the same entities.
