Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis thesis is the author's approach to directing and designing John van Druten's Bell, Book and Candle for production on the stage of the Mabee Theatre at Baylor University. The first chapter contains a biography of the playwright, his literary and personal influences, and several production reviews. The second chapter analyzes the structural elements of the play. In chapter three a detailed design approach is discussed. The fourth chapter discusses the casting, rehearsals, and performances. The final chapter is the prompt book. Found in the appendix is the pre-production publicity and a copy of the program and a review of the production.
