The study analyzes a reconstructed week of 10 p.m. newscasts from January 1995 to December 1995. The hypotheses include: H1. There is a significantly greater proportion of whites in positive stories than African Americans in positive stories; H2. There is a significantly greater average number of African Americans in stereotypical stories than in non-stereotypical stories; H3. In crime stories, there is a significantly greater proportion of nonwhites in criminal roles than whites in criminal roles.
