Furthermore, other associations can serve specific museum-related disciplines within the field. It is unlikely for any museum or individual to be involved with all associations available, but new ones continue to emerge. To determine how effectively museum associations are serving their members, founding documents of the six general associations are studied, a survey of involvement is conducted with the 98 museums in the Central Texas area, and 15 representative museum directors are interviewed regarding their perspectives on associations and their services. From this research it is determined that although most museums and individuals are satisfied with the associations, there is considerable overlap between services offered. Furthermore, it is determined these associations may serve only a small percentage of the museum community. Recommendations are given that address these issues.","abstract_html":"Currently, it is possible for a museum or individual in the Central Texas area to belong to six separate general museum associations.
