Kahlil Gibran : life and work.

The purpose of this thesis is to do research into the life and works of the poet, painter, and philosopher Kahlil Gibran. The world was left richer by his works. He died in 1931, and time has not yet passed to attest to his greatness. His words are of a maximum simplicity with a depth of thought. He has brought the mysticism and philosophies of the Near East to the America of today. Many have referred to him as "the William Blake of the twentieth century," but his ability as writer far exceeds that of Blake. He has an austere purity of thought, an amplitude and beauty of phrase, wisdom, serenity, and lofty vision. Claude Bragdon said of him, "His power came from some great reservoir of spiritual life else it could not have been so universal and potent, but the majesty and beauty of the language with which he clothed it were his own."
