To make valid group comparisons, researchers must ensure that items on the assessment have the same meaning and perform similarly across groups, such that there is no difference in item functioning based on group membership. Therefore, the following study sought to determine whether items on the Mullen Scales of Early Learning Visual Reception Scale performed similarly in a sample of autistic (N=45) and non-autistic children (N=30).
