dc:description.abstractThe crystallisation of barium chromate was investigated with theobjective of producing crystals of 10-4m in size instead of thecommercially available size of 2 x 10--6m. This was achieved by themethod of controlled homogeneous precipitation from solutions oflow pH. However, this was not an optimum operation. Two basicrequirements were established for the quantitative study of thekinetics of barium chromate crystallisation. The first requirement was a knowledge of the overall solubility of barium chromate in acid solutions at different temperatures.
