The practice of 'creative block': making space for process

The practice of creative block: making space for process explores the 'problem' of creative block, recontextualised as a concept. Thereby constituting reason for thinking and making, creative block may function as material to work with. This thesis is predicated on the notion that a creative practitioner requires both material and some space in which to make something of it. A space or place for practice may be variously apprehended, albeit a nomadic environment, as that of transitionary activity. In this research endeavour, the concept of cho¯ra (as a matrix in some form or other) serves as a likely vehicle for creative response to its concerns. Viewed through various lenses of process philosophy, including that of Alfred North Whitehead, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, this interplay of concepts in relation to lived experience breaks down binaries, becoming a solution of activated motility. My plastic practice of printmaking runs through the work, punctuating text with images.
