Properties of cobalt/copper and cobalt/palladium multilayers.
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe physical properties of Co/Cu and Co/Pd magnetic multilayers have been studied. The Co/Cu multilayers were prepared by sputtering, while the Co/Pd multilayers were made by sputtering and molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Various x-ray diffraction techniques have been used to study the structure of the multilayers. Magnetometry techniques were used to study the magnetic properties. Various optical techniques have been used to investigate the magneto-optical properties. Brillouin light scattering spectroscopy was used to determine the effective elastic constants of the Co/Cu multilayers and the magnetic properties of the sputtered Co/Pd multilayers.
