Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe purpose of this thesis is to show the place and function of the Noh mask within a religious and artistic context that has been subject to change. It is also to show some of the forces that have shaped the Noh mask and conditioned its use, to compare it with other masks in Japan and to see what its potential is in theatre today.
