Abstract
dc:description.abstractIn this research the following items has been investigated: 1)The level of prejudice of Alevis and Sunnis against each other has been compared. It has been researched whether the change in the level of prejudice is dependent on the sect, the sex, the level of education, relationship from another sect, family relationship which includes different sects and political attitude. 2)It has been calculated how the prejudice correlate with the values. Also the correlation between the prejudice and perceived socio-political identities. 3) It has been investigated whether the mean of the values varies due to the sect, the sex and the level of education. 4) The correlations between the values and perceived socio-political identities have been calculated. 5) It has been inspected whether socio-political identities depend on the sect, the sex and the level of education. The effect of the sect on political attitudes has been researched.Sampling includes individuals living in Ankara of age between 18-60 of which 204 are Alevi and 257 are Sunni. Participants contributed by completing the following questionnaires: background variables form, prejudice scale of which the validity and reliability has been studied by the researcher, right-wing authoritarian personality scale, portrait values questionnaire, perceived socio-political identities scale.The level of prejudice of Alevis is higher than the level of prejudice of Sunnis per the calculated results.According to the analysis of values Sunni participants have higher scores of tradition, security, conformity, universalism, conservation than Alevi participants' scores. Conversely Alevi participants have higher scores of power, achievement, self-enhancement than Sunni participants' scores which are identified as individualist values. According to the results of the analysis; Alevi participants have higher scores of secular-leftist identity and lower scores of nationalist-conservative identity than Sunni participants.All results have been discussed based on relevant literature.
