dc:description.abstractABSTRACT Dr. Pamela Decker and Dr. Naji Hakim are renowned composers primarily known for their organ works. Their works have been performed and recorded the world over and are staples of the contemporary concert repertoire. This recording presents organ works of Dr. Decker and Dr. Hakim which have not been recorded. They are: Prélude, Aria et Gigue – Naji HakimVariaciones sobre ‘Salve, Madre de Torreciudad’ – Naji HakimLux perpetua – Pamela DeckerPrélude, Choral et Danse – Naji HakimThe Martyrdom of St. Alban – Pamela DeckerVariationen über ‘Ein Haus voll Glorie Schauet’ – Naji Hakim This accompanying paper will discuss the various components of each work, as well as the effects of the Neoclassical or Orgelbewegung movement in organ building and organ playing and the symphonic tradition of organ building and organ playing on these composers and their works, as well as those movements’ effects on concert programs and concert audiences.This recording will join the library of recordings of Dr. Decker’s and Dr. Hakim’s works, filling in gaps of their catalogued recorded organ works.
