Voces Silenciadas: Victimización Infantil en La Literatura y El Cine Contemporáneos

This dissertation investigates the portrayal of child protagonists as victims of criminal acts in Spanish novels and films produced between 2010 and 2019 aimed at young audiences. It compares the statistical profiles of victimization with those constructed in selected narratives, analyzing how these works depict minors’ suffering, reflect societal realities, and promote awareness and social change.The study divides its analysis into four chapters, each addressing specific forms of child victimization: bullying (Invisible and Nada será igual), gender-based violence involving minors (Desnuda and El miedo), intrafamilial abuse (El día en que me fui and La inocencia), and sexual abuse of minors (Palabras envenenadas and Elisa K). I examine power dynamics, trauma, and resilience strategies by employing theoretical insights from Judith Herman, Martha Nussbaum, Pierre Bourdieu, Sarah Thomas, and David Finkelhor.This dissertation highlights the critical role of cultural narratives in shedding light on child victimization and its potential to inspire societal transformation. Bridging literature, cinema, and contemporary issues deepens the understanding of victim experiences and advances their visibility and protection.
