The relationship between visiting purpose and cognition level to sedation in caregivers of pediatric dental patients

Purpose. Children usually shows anxiety and fear to dental treatment. Therefore, many pediatric patients needs sedation appointments for their dental treatments. This pilot study analyzes the visiting purpose and the cognitive level to sedation of caregivers to dental clinics. Method. The survey was done from the randomly selected caregivers to dental clinic at Suwon city from April 1st to November 1st 2011. The obtained data was analyzed with SPSS version 17.0. Result. Basic awareness on sedation and related experience to dental treatment was significantly correlated with the cognitive level to the sedation. Conclusion. Caregivers should take the proper information of sedation. Dental staffs also have enough scientific backgrounds and experience to sedation.
