Abstract
dc:descriptionAs the number of patients who visit to emergency department increases, it leads to leading to long wait times, crowded conditions, low quality care and even fatal outcomes. To identify patients’ conditions promptly and increase their satisfaction, an adequate clinical process is necessary for care. One wide regional emergency center started new clinical protocol based on triage of acute stage. As soon as patients come in, a senior resident decide their severity and treatment plan. To evaluate the effectiveness of this protocol, we surveyed about door to doctor time, doctor to consult time, stay time in emergency room(ER), door to admission decision time and others of patients who visited ER from Mar 1st 2008 to Feb 28th 2009. Data were given from registries of hospital. Average wait time was very short as 3minutes 32.1seconds. Severity index was significantly associated to wait time. Thus, new clinical protocol will be helpful to shorten the time to start patients’ care and identify priority of care.
