Abstract

dc:description

Modern employees experience heavy stress due to various problems both inside and outside workplace. The stress often induce depression as well as a decrease sense of self-esteem. As result, these symptoms are likely to impact on workers, families, and companies to which the employees belong. In this study, the relationship between job stressors (KOSS) and depression symptoms (Korean version of CES-D) in public officials was analyzed using SPSS Window program version 12.0 program. The study subjects were male worker at dairy industry. The study results are as follows. In correlation analysis, job stress was positively correlated with depression. In multiple regression, job stress was significantly explained by depression. Although it is difficult to generalize these study results to all Korean male industry workers, they do provide a foundation for future studies to more comprehensively examine the correlation between job-stress and depression. The study results do nevertheless support the need to develop effective intervention programs to reduce factors which generate job-stress and depression.
